
Eun K. Um, Ph.D.
CEO and President
Dr. Eun K. Um is a statistician, with an MA from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Statistics from Columbia University. She was Research Data Manager at Harvard Medical School. She was Data Manager at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She served as an Assistant Professor at University of Texas. She taught graduate courses in both research design and statistics while conducting research in statistics. She is primarily known for her contributions to the practice of multilevel modeling, survival analysis, and individual growth modeling, and to making these and other statistical methods accessible to empirical researchers. Dr. Um’s wide-ranging interests have led her to publish across a broad array of disciplines, including statistics, psychology, medicine, and public health. In addition to writing papers and book chapters, she has written three books, including Motivation and Mathematics Achievement: A Structural Equation Analysis (Aug 29, 2008) and Autonomy Support, Self-Concept, and Mathematics Performance: A Structural Equation Analysis (Oct 8, 2010).
Daniel Light, Ph.D.
Vice President for Research
Dr. Daniel Light holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Yale University. He has worked as an evaluator of innovative science, mathematics and environmental curricula, as a statistician and data analyst, and as an instructor for graduate-level university courses in statistics. He provides oversight of SCG’s research program, including establishing and helping to maintain research policies and procedures, reviewing research proposals and plans, and supporting project management and staff professional development.
Kris Brady, Ph.D.
Director of Quantitative Research
Dr. Kris Brady holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cornell University. He conducts and manages quantitative research, with a particular emphasis on developing and using robust, quantitative models. He gives workshops and lectures on a variety of subjects. He continues to be involved in a couple of key projects.
Amy Grant, Ph.D.
Director of Health Care Studies
Dr. Amy Grant holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Brown University. Her research interests include: (1) role of chronic stress in premature labor; (2) contribution of clinician and system factors to clinician-initiated deliveries; (3) prevalence and severity of food allergy and health services.
Michelle Malkin, Ph.D.
Director of Business Consulting
Dr. Michelle Malkin holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of Pennsylvania. She oversees the company’s business goals, operational efficiencies, and market development. She manages projects and provides consultation to client organizations.
John McGinn, Ph.D.
Director of Academic Research
Dr. John McGinn holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Columbia University. He focuses his research primarily on assessment, particularly as a tool of policy. His recent work has included studies of the validity of gains in high-stakes testing programs, the effects of testing programs on schooling, and the assessment of students with disabilities.
